Straumann appoints new interim chief financial officer

BASEL, Switzerland: Straumann Group has appointed Marc-Alain Weder as interim chief financial officer (CFO) and member of its executive management board, effective from January 2023. Weder succeeds current CFO Dr Peter Hackel, who announced in August last year that he would step down on 1 February.

Guillaume Daniellot, CEO at Straumann, commented: “Marc-Alain is a proven CFO and business leader, delivering impressive results throughout his career. He brings a wealth of experience in corporate finance and business development. We are looking forward to working with Marc-Alain and thank him for supporting us in the coming months.”

Before joining Straumann, Weder was chief financial officer and senior vice president of group finance at Adecco Global Business Unit, the largest division of global recruitment specialist the Adecco Group.

A Swiss citizen with a master’s degree in economics from the University of Lausanne, Weder began his career at Philip Morris International and has held a number of managerial positions, including several CFO roles and those that involved leading global transformation initiatives. Before joining Adecco, he worked at boutique consulting firm MAP, where he advised senior management of mid- and large-sized international companies and government organisations on the alignment of visions, strategies and objectives with efficient day-to-day business operations.

Outgoing CFO Dr Hackel first joined Straumann in 2004 and rejoined the dental company as CFO in 2014 after a three-year stint as CFO at high-precision gear manufacturer Oerlikon Drive Systems. The global packaging company Syntegon Group said in September that Dr Hackel would join the company as CFO in early 2023.

Straumann said that its recruitment process for a new CFO is ongoing.
